What Is Microneedling?

Microneedling uses a device with very fine needles to create tiny, controlled micro-injuries in the skin, which switch on your body’s natural collagen and repair response. Over a series of sessions it improves skin texture, softens fine lines, shrinks the look of pores, and helps fade acne scars. It pairs especially well with PRP, your own growth factors, for a stronger result.

In my more than 20 years in medicine, I like microneedling because it does not fight your skin, it works with it. Here is how.

Those tiny channels the needles create are just enough to signal your skin that it is time to repair. In response, your body lays down fresh collagen and elastin, the very things that keep skin smooth and firm and that we lose with age. The result, over several weeks, is skin that looks smoother, tighter, and more even.

It is a good option for improving overall texture, softening fine lines, reducing the appearance of pores, and smoothing acne scars and some stretch marks. Because it relies on your own healing, results build gradually, a series of treatments usually works best, and the downtime is minimal, often just a day or two of mild redness.

In my practice, here is what matters. A medical-grade device in trained hands is a very different treatment from an at-home roller. The depth, the technique, and the sterile setting are what make it both effective and safe, and it is why professional microneedling delivers real change while the home version mostly does not.

If smoother, healthier-looking skin is your goal, the next step is a consult where we assess your skin and decide whether microneedling, on its own or with PRP, is right for you.
